Pile quality is often determined using a non-destructive low-strain testing method, called Low Strain Integrity Testing, also known as SIT (Sonic Integrity Testing).
The method does not measure bearing capacity, but with a small handheld instrument and a hammer, the quality of driven or cast piles can be assessed in a short time.
